Stryper - Mohegan Sun 02/01/19 Mohegan Sun Casino - Uncasville CT.
To be completely honest for some reason or another I never got around to listening to Stryper until recently. It's not like I haven't had time seeing they have been around since the 80's and are a multi platinum album band. Wow what a mistake! Formed in 1983 as Roxx Regime, the band soon changed their musical message to reflect their Christian beliefs and the band's name was also changed to Stryper. They went on to become the first overtly Christian heavy metal band to gain acceptance in the mainstream. Stryper has sold over 10 million recordings worldwide and it is estimated that two-thirds of their albums were bought by non-Christians. They are led by founders Michael Sweet – lead vocals, guitar his brother Robert Sweet on drums, Oz Fox - guitar and backing vocals and the newest member (2017) Perry Richardson (formerly of Firehouse) on bass. Last night at Mohegan Sun from the moment they came out on stage with the song "Yahweh" to the closing notes of "The Way" they were in total control. The played for almost 2 hours and not one time did they lose the audience who were captivated by them. The way they harmonize, the thundering bass, the ripping guitars, the pounding drums and incredible vocals are all amazing! I was very impressed with the way the delivered their show and the way they interact with each other as well as the crowd. Full setlist can be seen here Stryper is going to Japan for a couple of dates and then come back to the states to tour go check them out!
